This design/build project, located in Cecil County, consists of retrofitting a drainage swale and sediment basin using RSC techniques. In 2010 MDE imposed a Compliance Oder on the landfill for exceeding turbidity discharges. The purpose of the project is to pilot the use of RSC to treat excess turbidity discharges. Underwood & Associates designed and oversaw construction for this project.
Underwood has an in-depth experience in designing step-pool systems within urbanized environments. Throughout development of the design, Underwood will focused efforts on achieving the regenerative channel’s capability to achieve stormwater discharge requirements (i.e. turbidity) and its constructability. During construction Underwood completed periodic site visits to verify the design or to modify it as warranted to enhance performance.
